Week of October 20, 2025

 Please Note

-We had a great time on our field trip to Riverbend!

-This week we will have our Saints Celebration!  Here are some reminders:

  •  The presentation will be at 9:00 a.m. on Friday and will last about 45 minutes.  We ask that all family members sit on the side pews (left and right of the altar).

  • The children will tell you whether they are closer to the ‘Joseph or Mary’ side of the church after practice on Wednesday.

  • The kids are to come to school dressed in their costumes over their gym uniforms or spirit wear for the pep rally. Sneakers are fine.

  • Please make sure any robes are not too long as we will be walking to and from the church. Also, bobby pins do not keep veils on so if you can attach them to a headband or use clips that would be great.

  • FYI…once our presentation ends, Msgr will say a few words, then the children will process around the church following an SKS musician playing "When the Saints Go Marching In"

  • After processing, the children will reassemble on the altar, and Mrs. Mulvanerty will dismiss the school congregation.  1st Grade will remain and you will be invited for group photos. Please do not take them for individual photos until we dismiss them from the altar.  At that point, you are welcome to have a few minutes for individual photos and then we will call them to line to return to the classroom.  If you would like to take their costumes you are welcome to.  If not, please send them to school with a bag for their costume.

  • We will have our Unit 2, Week 2 reading and spelling test on Wednesday.  This was postponed from last week.

Week of October 13, 2025

 Please Note

-Thank you for your help with the saint reports.  They were completed wonderfully, and we are looking forward to learning about their saint.  We will be getting ready for our Saints Celebration this week and next.

- School pictures will be taken on Wednesday. They should wear their winter uniforms. Please send in your forms or complete them online.

- Friday will be a $1.00 Dress Down Day benefiting Cases for Smiles

- Our field trip to Riverbend will be next Monday.  The children should wear their winter gym uniform with sneakers. Their sneakers may get wet, so we are suggesting an older pair.  Rain boots are not really conducive to the hiking part of the trip. They will also need a snack and lunch.  We recommend using their regular lunch box and water bottle, but please be sure they have their names on them. We are looking forward to a fun day!

- The permission form for the 1st-grade field trip to Riverbend Preserve is available in the

link below. The $23 trip fee was invoiced on 10/3 via email through your FACTS account

under incidental billing. *Both must be completed for your child to attend the trip.

Week of September 22, 2025

Sample of a well-done saint report.

It does not need to be two sides.

Please Note

- I hope you had a great weekend! I can't believe we are in the last full week of September already. We will continue working on our routines, but the kids are settling in and doing great! We have a relatively calm week, but there are numerous reminders.

- Just a reminder to review all spelling and high-frequency words each night to prepare for the weekly Friday tests. There will also be a comprehension and grammar portion that we will prepare for in school.  There are grammar pages in the reading copybook, along with their words, for them to review as well.

- Homework has been great!  Thank you for checking your child's homework for neat handwriting and completeness. We've been working on writing neatly and in lowercase letters in school, using the proper lines, and it is helpful when you continue to reinforce this at home.  Please have them use pencil only, unless the directions call for coloring.  There are now pages in the back of their reading copybooks that show the correct letter formation.  If anyone would like a packet for extra handwriting practice, just let me know.  Thank you for your help with this.

- A paper explaining the Saints Celebration will be sent home this week. Please read it carefully and mark down the dates. The report will be due on Wednesday, October 8th and the celebration will be on Friday, October 24th.

- We have our first field trip planned to Riverbend on Monday, October 20th.  You will be invoiced for the cost of the trip through your FACTS account. The invoice will have the permission waiver in the form, and payment of the fee will complete both steps.  We will need up to 5 chaperones for our class. The trip will run from approximately 9:45 to 1:00.  Sorry, no younger siblings are permitted.   If you have your clearances and are interested, please email me back and I will pick from a hat next week.

- Looking ahead, winter uniform will begin on Monday, October 6th.

-Have a great week!
