-  Happy Catholic Schools Week! We have a very busy week with lots of activities going on. Check out the pictures to see some of the fun we've had so far.  Please refer to the schedule below and let me know if you have any questions.

 - Test folders will be sent home Thursday. Please sign and return Friday.

- There will be a math quiz on Thursday on Place Value.

Dress Down for 1st Grade
 Stained-glass window presentation by the 8th grade

Wednesday
Crazy 8s Day!  Students can accessorize their regular uniform with 8 crazy items! Socks, hats, etc.
Spelling Bee: 9:15-10:15 in the gym. We will be cheering on Nicholas Duncan!
Comedy Show - 12:15-1:15

Thursday
 Rap Battles

Friday 
Spirit Day - Students can wear blue and white to show school spirit!
Student vs Teacher basketball game 9:00-11:00 in the gym
12:00 pm dismissal

* All week we will be collecting cans for the Souper Bowl of Caring Collection. *

We will continue our unit on place value this week and have a quiz on identifying tens and ones. We will find the values of digits and begin learning how to write number in expanded form.

Week of January 21, 2019

 



Please Note

- Mass from last Friday is rescheduled for this Thursday at 9:00 am. Please join us if you can!

- There will be a Reading and Spelling test on Friday. Thanks!

- Catholic Schools Week opens with Mass on Sunday at 9:30. All are welcome!

-This week we will begin a Social Studies unit on Responsible Citizenship. Here are some of the important things we will learn about:

  • Rules and laws in our home, school, and community
  • How we can be responsible citizens:
  • Following our rules and laws
  • Respect and responsibility
  • How we can be a good friend
  • Why truthfulness is important
  • Cooperation and sportsmanship
  • Perseverance
This unit will teach us about how we can make our classroom community the best that it can be!

We will continue our unit on place value this week. We will review identifying tens and ones in numbers. We will focus on finding the "value" of digits. We will also work with expanded form and comparing numbers.

Week of January 14, 2019

We've been working hard to prepare our Tower Garden.
The kids were excited to help with the cleaning and scrubbing in 
anticipation of a healthy crop of lettuce this year.
We plan to get some seeds started this week!




Please Note

- For MLK Day (1/21) SKS will be having a day of service from 10:00 am -12:00 pm in the cafeteria. All are welcome to volunteer! First grade has been asked to send in individually wrapped toothbrushes and toothpaste. If you would like to to donate you can send them in any time before Monday, 1/21. Thanks for your help!

- Test folders will be sent home on Wednesday. Please sign and return on Thursday.

-Wednesday is a Dress Down Day. Please send in $1.00 to dress down.

- On Thursday, pictures for yearbook will be taken. Please do not dress down on this day.

- We will have our Monthly Mass on Friday at 9:00 am. All are welcome to join us!

Week of January 7, 2019

Welcome back to our first full week of 2019!

Please Note

- We will review short vowels and have a test on Friday.

- There will be a Chapter 8 Religion test on Friday. A study guide will be sent home today.

- Picture re-takes are on Wednesday.

- We will start practicing timed math this week. This will not be graded and is only meant to get the kids ready and comfortable for when they do it next year.
