- I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving break and enjoyed the time off with your family and friends!

- Test folders will be sent home on Wednesday. Please sign and return on Thursday.

- The first trimester ends this Friday. Report cards will be sent home in mid December.

Religion

We start Chapter 13 this week and learn about the season of Advent.

Reading

Story: "At Home in the Ocean"

Target Skill: Author's Purpose (Persuade, inform, entertain)

Phonics Skill: Long A, digraph -th, endings (ed, ing, s, es)

Grammar: Proper Nouns

Sight Words: blue, cold, far, little, live, their, water, where, here, me, my, who

Spelling Words: that, them, then, with, this, bath, thick, think

Math

This week we will start our subtraction unit. We will learn that subtracting means to "take away." We will learn how to write number sentences and use pictures to help us solve problems. We will also use number lines and ten frames to help us solve problems.

Week of November 13, 2017

- Thanks to all who generously donated wish list items.  One item was our Reading Eggs subscription.  We are in the process of obtaining our one-year subscription and the children will receive new login information.  I will update their username and passwords and get the information to you as soon as it is available.  Thanks again!

- There will be a Math test on Addition this Thursday. A review sheet will be sent home on Tuesday and Wednesday.

- There will be a Reading and a Spelling test on Friday.

- If you could donate a jar of pasta sauce this week for Mercy Hospice it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance!

- Handbag Bingo is this Thursday night at 7:00pm in the Parish Center.

Phonics Skill: Short u sound and final blends -mp -nt, -nd, -st, -sk

Grammar: using a, an and the. Synonyms and antonyms

Sight Words: eat, give, one, put, small, take, sing, all, does, they

Spelling Words: sun, bus, but, run, dust, jump, does, they

Math

We will continue working on addition this week. We will practice using ten frames and number lines to add and continue adding 3 addends.  When adding 3 addends together, use "Box, Add, Move, Add" to help them remember the steps.  We will have an addition test on Friday.

Week of November 5, 2017

Please Note

- We will have our monthly Mass on Wednesday, November 8th at 8:45. We are starting early because Sr. Liz's funeral Mass will be held right after. All are welcome!

- SKS Got Talent is Friday night at 7:00pm in the gym!

- We will celebrate Veteran's Day this Thursday by having a special ceremony in the schoolyard at 8:30am. If you have any family members or friends who served in the armed forces please invite them! If they cannot attend you can send in a picture or index card with their name on it so we can honor them and/or those who are no longer with us.

- Kids may accessorize their uniforms with red, white and blue on Thursday.

- If you have any pictures from field trips, Halloween, etc. could you please share them with Mrs. Ryan, our yearbook coordinator. You can email the pictures to the following address: sksyearbook@sksschool.org. Thanks for your help!
