Please Note

  • Friday is a $1.00 Dress Down Day
  • The Tableau is Wednesday at 7:00pm in the Church.  It is a beautiful Advent/Christmas show put on by the upper grades.  It is a great way to get in the spirit!
  • Tip:  Fresh school supplies make great stocking stuffers!  Some could use 24 pack of crayons, 12 pack of colored pencils, pack of 10 thin markers, index cards, or sharpened pencils.  Some are in desperate need, some still have all of their supplies from September...perhaps ask your child which category they fall in ;-)
  • Please sign and return the permission slip for our field trip to Devon Lanes with our buddies.  The trip will be on Tuesday, December 22nd.  We will return to school for a pizza lunch.

Please Note

  • We will visit Archbishop Carroll on Wednesday to see Annie.  The children should wear their gym uniforms and bring a disposable bag and snack.  We will return for lunch.
  • The K-4 Christmas Concert is this Wednesday at 7:00 in the church.  The children should wear a nice Christmas outfit and report to the Parish Center by 6:45.  We will process to the church so please keep their coats with you if they even need one at all!  Please pick your child up at the pews afterwards.
  • Report cards will be given out on Tuesday or Wednesday.  Please sign the envelope.  You may keep the report.  Thank you for all of your time and efforts in working with your children to make sure they  are completing their homework correctly and are prepared each day.  Remember:  READ, READ, READ!We had a great 1st Trimester -  the children should be proud of their performance :-)

Please Note

 Miss Panaro and room 4 have generously suggested that the rest of the first grade share the dress down day they won for the highest attendance at the last Home and School Meeting.  We graciously accepted their generosity with a big THANK YOU!  Therefore, this Friday will be a free dress down day for the whole first grade. :-)

Monday, November 23rd, is a $1.00 dress down day.

On Tuesday, November 4th, there is a Thanksgiving prayer service at 9:00 in the church.  All are welcome!

We have ordered our reading, math and phonics workbooks.  We will be collecting for the  amount due as soon as we determine the exact total.  The cost is $21 for all three.  If you have any questions or concerns about this payment, please let me know.  

I hope everyone has a fun, relaxing Thanksgiving break.

Homework


The children will have a reading and a math worksheet for homework each night this week (MON - THURS.)  They will bring the sheets home each night in their homework folder to complete and return to school the next morning.

Book Report packets will be sent home on Tuesday with directions included.  They will be due by next Tuesday.

Please review the reading copybook, word cards, and math cards daily.

We will have a reading assessment on Friday for our story - A Musical Day.

We will have a Chapter 3 Religion quiz on FRIDAY.  Study guides will be given out on WEDNESDAY for nightly review.

Please Note

9:15 School Mass on Tuesday, November 10th.  All are welcome!

Please Note

Tomorrow, Thursday, will be a free blue and white dress down to support Wildcat Day this Saturday.  They may wear their gym uniforms or anything blue and white.

 The Saint Celebration was fabulous.  The children worked really hard in class on their songs, etc.  Thanks for all of your help with the projects and costumes.


There is no school on Friday due to conferences.

Please Note


Great job on the Saint reports!!!
Saint costumes are due this Thursday, October 29th.   Please send the costume to school in a bag with their name on it.  Please practice and be sure that they are aware of how to dress themselves in their costume.  We will have 8th graders helping but it goes much better when they can do most of it themselves.  Thanks!

 The Saint Celebration is this Friday, October 30th in the church.

The Halloween-A-Thon is also Friday.  It should begin around 1:00/1:15.  Please send their costumes to school on Friday morning in a bag with their name on it.  Again, please be sure they can dress themselves with minimal assistance.

They should wear their gym uniforms on Friday.
The children may leave with you after the Halloween-a-Thon.

The children will not have school next Tuesday, November 3rd (teacher in-service) or next Friday, November 6th (conferences.)

Homework

The report portion of our Saint Project is due this Thursday, October 15th.  Please remind the children about neat handwriting and to be detailed in their illustrations.  Please practice reading the report.  They will be reading their report orally to their classmates.  

The children will have a reading and a math worksheet for homework each night this week (MON-THURS.)  They will bring the sheets home each night in their homework folder to complete and return to school the next morning. 

Please review the reading copybook and word cards daily.

Test folders will come home on Tuesday.  Please sign each test and return them in the folder.

Picture Day is this Thursday, October 15th.  Please return your picture order by Thursday.

Week of October 5th

Homework

The children will have a reading and a math worksheet for homework each night this week (MON-THURS.)  They will bring the sheets home each night in their homework folder to complete and return to school the next morning.  


We will also be updating our reading copybooks  later in the week to include information about our next story, How Animals Communicate.  Please review this information and practice reading the story at home.

The children will have a reading assessment on Wednesday on the vocabulary, short a spelling words, and comprehension questions for their story Jack and the Wolf.

We will have a math quiz on Thursday on numbers, number words, number order (before, after, between.)


Notes


Please send in a pair of rosaries for your child to keep at school if you have not done so already.

We are looking forward to our trip to Highland Orchards this Friday!  The children should wear their gym uniform - spring or winter, weather depending - your call :-)  They will need to bring a snack, lunch and drink in disposable containers and in a throw away bag marked with their name.

There is a school mass on Tuesday at 9:00.  All are welcome!  No dress downs on mass days.


Please keep an eye out for the information regarding our Saint Celebration which will be sent home today.


Next Monday, October 12th, will begin our winter uniform.

We will have a religion quiz on Friday for Chapter 1.  Please keep the guide in a safe place and review it nightly.

The children will have vocabulary and short a spelling words in their reading copybooks, and word cards, to practice.  They will also have their readers to practice reading our first story, Jack and the Wolf.

Please send in a pair of rosaries for your child to keep at school.

Permission slips will come home this week for our trip to Highland Orchards.  Please return the slip and payment by Monday, October 5th.

Welcome to 1st Grade, Room 3!

Week of September 14th

The children will bring their journals home to be decorated this week.  Please assist them in finding photos, magazine cut outs, stickers, or other embellishments to decorate the front and back covers.  The theme is 'All About Me.'  Please cover their finished journal with clear contact paper and return the journal to school by Monday, September 21st.

Homework will begin on September 28th.  Meanwhile, the children will have vocabulary and short a spelling words in their reading copybooks, and word cards, to practice.  They will also have their readers to practice reading our first story, Jack and the Wolf.
