Please Note

- I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving break and enjoyed the time off with your family and friends. Here are your reminders for the week:

- We are starting Unit 3 in reading this week. There will now be 12 Sight Words instead of 10. We will also being reviewing short vowels. Please continue to review short vowels with your child at home (in their reading copybooks.)

- Test folders will be sent home tomorrow. Please sign and return on Wednesday.

Our Week

Religion
We start Chapter 13 this week and learn about the season of Advent.

Reading
Story: "At Home in the Ocean"
Target Skill: Author's Purpose (Persuade, inform, entertain)
Phonics Skill: Long A, digraph -th, endings (ed, ing, s, es)
Grammar: Proper Nouns
Sight Words: blue, cold, far, little, live, their, water, where, here, me, my, who
Spelling Words: that, them, then, this, thick, think, bath, with

Math
We will continue our unit on subtraction this week. We will practice it on a number line and also with 10 frames.

Week of November 12, 2018

Please Note

- Each child received two books to keep in their bag with their word cards.  They should practice reading the book aloud throughout the week.  They will choose one of the books to read on Thursday or Friday.  The books are intended to be easy reads as the purpose of this activity is to read aloud with a strong clear voice at a steady pace with proper inflection.  They will receive new books each week.

- Test folders will be sent home tomorrow. Please sign and return on Wednesday.

- Our Monthly Mass for November will be on Wednesday at 9:00 am. All are welcome!

- There will be a Religion test on Chapter 4 on Thursday. A study guide will be sent home today.

- There will be a Reading test and a Spelling test on Friday.

- We will only have school on Monday and Tuesday of next week :)

This week we will start our subtraction unit. We will learn that subtracting means to "take away." We will learn how to write number sentences and use pictures to help us solve problems. We will also use number lines and ten frames to help us solve problems.

We had a great time on our trip to Highland Orchards!

Please Note

- There will be a math test on addition this Thursday. We will review this week and a practice test will be sent home for homework on Wednesday.

- We will celebrate Veteran's Day next Monday by having a special ceremony in the gym 8:30am. If you have any family members or friends who served in the armed forces please invite them.

- No school on Friday for conferences. I look forward to seeing you Thursday night or Friday.
