Week of May 29th

-Study guides for the math and religion exam, along with the exam schedule we sent home last week.  The study guides that were sent home are to be worked on and are to stay home. We will complete a separate set in school this week. If you have any questions about them please let me know.

- Donuts with Dudes will be next Tuesday, June 6th at 8:30am on the playground (cafeteria if the weather doesn't cooperate.) More information will be sent home this week.


- There will be a Dress Down day on Friday. Please send in $1.00 to dress down.

Week of May 22nd




Please Note


- First grade monthly Mass on Thursday at 9:00 am.


- This will be our last week of homework! Please continue to have your child review for exams, read for 15 minutes each night and play on First in Math.

-The test folders will come home for the last time on Tuesday. Please review, sign, and return.


- An exam schedule will be sent home this week along with study guides and practice sheets for homework. We will be reviewing them in school but they should also be reviewed at home.


- No school on Friday, 5/26 or Monday, 5/29. Hope you have a great Memorial Day weekend!


- Reminder that Doughnuts with Dudes will be Tuesday, June 6th at 8:30 am. Each child is asked to invite a special "dude" (dad, uncle, grandfather etc.) to join us for coffee and doughnuts that morning.  More information will sent home in the coming weeks.

- There is one Guest Reader date still available: Wednesday, June 7th at 11:00.

Our Week


Religion - We will complete Chapter 23 - “We Celebrate the Mass” as we prepare to celebrate the First Grade Mass.


Reading - We will review long and short vowels.

Math - We will finish our unit on Shapes and have an in class assessment.  We will also begin reviewing for our cumulative math exam.

Week of May 15th



Please Note


- We will finish up our final story of the year this week and then begin to study and review for exams. Information about the exams will be sent home next week.


- The first grade Mass will be next Thursday, May 25th at 9:00 am. We hope that you all can join us!


- There will be a reading and a spelling test on Friday.


-Please be sure your calendars are marked for Donuts with Dudes on Tuesday, June 6th at 8:30.


-If anyone who hasn’t had a second turn to guest read and would like to, the following dates are currently available.  Let me know if you would like to read again.  

6/7     11:00 **Half day so you can take your child home with you afterwards and avoid car line.**

We will begin our unit on shapes this week.  We will identify 2-D and 3-D shapes and their attributes (sides, vertices (corners), faces (flat surfaces) and edges.)

Week of June 8th



Please Note


-The May Procession will be on Wednesday night. Please have your child at school no later than 6:40pm.  They should be dressed in their winter uniform. If you could send your child with set a rosaries it would be greatly appreciated.  (If they do not already have a pair at school.)  After we process out of Church, you can pick up your child from me at the front of the school. A section will be blocked off for kindergarten and first grade. Thank you for your help with this!

Week of May 1st

Please Note:

- Please make sure you have your calendars marked for the May Procession, the First Grade Mass and Doughnuts with Dudes.

- We will have a math quiz on money this Thursday.

- The Flower Book Report is due this Friday.  A book was provided.

- We will have a spelling and reading test this Friday.

- Next Wednesday, May 10th at 7:00pm is the May Procession. Students need to wear their winter uniform so please make sure you have it ready to go!

- We will begin practicing our "timed math" to get ready for second grade. Please make sure you continue to study addition and subtraction facts to 20 at home with your child. There are tons of games and apps that students can practice with.

We will continue our unit on money this week and have a quiz on Thursday.  If you have time at home, gather some quarters, dimes, nickels and pennies for your child to practice counting.   We count up to $1.00.  We first sort, then order from greatest value to least and then count.  They should also practice trying to make a given amount up to a dollar.
