Welcome to 1st Grade, Room 3!

Week of September 12th

The children will bring their journals home to be decorated this week.  Please assist them in finding photos, magazine cut outs, stickers, or other embellishments to decorate the front and back covers.  The theme is 'All About Me.'  Please cover their finished journal with clear contact paper and return the journal to school by Monday, September 19th.

There will be an "All About Me' t-shirt activity in their homework folders as well.  This is also due on Monday, September 19th.

Homework will begin on September 26th.  Meanwhile, the children will have vocabulary and short a spelling words in their reading copybooks, and word cards, to practice.  They will also have their readers to practice reading our first story, Jack and the Wolf.

Friday is a Dress Down Day.  Your child may dress in play clothes and bring $1.00 for 'Johnny's Run/Respect Life'.

Religion: Unit 1 - "Jesus Teaches Us About God's Love"
We will be learning about the story of creation and how we were all made in the image and likeness of God. We will also learn about how God made each of us different!

Math
This week we will focus on writing numbers and number words (zero - twelve). We will also work on putting numbers in order and filling in missing numbers on hundreds charts.
