Week of January 13, 2020



Please Note

- Test folders will come home today.  Please review, sign, and return.  Thanks!

- For MLK Day (1/20) SKS will be having a day of service from 10:00 am -12:00 pm in the cafeteria. All are welcome to volunteer. First grade has been asked to send in individually wrapped toothbrushes and toothpaste. If you would like to to donate you can send them in any time before Monday, 1/20. Thanks for your help!

- On Tuesday and Wednesday, the 7th grade will be selling popsicles ($1.00) and raffle tickets ($.50 each or 3/$1.00) to win gift baskets to raise money for Ryan's Cases for Smiles. It is a local organization that helps families with children who are fighting cancer. https://caseforsmiles.org/

-Wednesday is a Dress Down Day for Ryan's Cases for Smiles. Please send in $1.00 to dress down.

- On Thursday, group pictures for yearbook will be taken. Please do not dress down on this day.

- There will be a Religion test on Chapter 8 on Thursday.

- There will be a Reading and Spelling test on Friday.

We will finish Chapter 8 "Jesus Had Many Followers" and have a test on Thursday

Phonics Skill: Digraph -sh, -wh, -ph and contractions 's and n't
Grammar: Subjects and verbs
Sight Words: down, fall, goes, green, grow, new, open, yellow, many, pull, because, want
Spelling Words: ship, shop, which, when, whip, fish, this, trash

Math
We will continue our unit on place value this week. We will review identifying tens and ones in numbers. We will focus on finding the "value" of digits. We will also begin to work with expanded form and comparing numbers.
