-We had so much fun building our traps last week. Their creativity and engineering skills blew me away. Even better, they worked together so well to help one another.  💚  Lucky the Leprechaun even stopped by while we were at lunch!

- The kids did a great job taking their Terra Nova tests last week! We are happy to get back to the a normal schedule this week.

- We will continue with the story "The Big Trip" this week but will not have a test on it.

Week of March 7, 2022

-The second trimester closes this Friday and I can assure you that this last trimester will FLY by. In this final trimester, we really focus on responsibility, independence and self control. We talk a lot about being "almost second graders" and what being in second grade entails. One of the best parts of teaching first grade is seeing the growth that each child makes in 9 short months. Thinking back from September until now they are completely different kids! I am sure you see it too.

-This week is Terra Nova week.  They had a great day 1.  We will be taking different parts of the test each day thru Thursday. 

- There will be no homework this week.  Getting to bed early should be easier this way. :-)

- We will be building our leprechaun traps next week so don't forget to be collecting supplies!

Week of February 28, 2022

Please Note

 -Can you believe it is March? This week we will be working hard reviewing long vowels, learning about money and preparing for the Terra Nova tests which will be taken next week. A schedule and a few tips will be sent home this week.  

- If you did not send in coins with your child, please do so ASAP! (4 quarters, 10 dimes, 20 nickels and 25 pennies).

- Test folders will be sent home Thursday. Please sign and return on Friday.

- We will celebrate Ash Wednesday with Mass at 9:00am. All are welcome to join!

- There will be a Reading and Spelling test on Friday.

- Don't forget to have your child look up some leprechaun traps and start gathering the materials that they will need to build their own the week of 3/14.

Week of February 21, 2022

Please Note

- We will start a new unit in reading! A new Reader's Notebook will be sent home today. 

- We will have a test in math on Friday on double digit addition and subtraction (no regrouping) and math facts with sums to 20.  A review sheet will be sent home as homework on Thursday.

- We will have a Religion test on Chapter 11 on Friday.  A study guide will be sent home today.

- We will be starting our unit on money next week.  If you could send in a ziplock bag labeled with your child's name with 4 quarters, 10 dimes, 20 nickels and 25 pennies that would be really helpful! Thank you!

- For the next few weeks we will also be preparing and reviewing for the Terra Nova test which will be taken the week of March 7th.

- Be on the look out this week for some information on Leprechaun Traps!  We will be building them in school during the week of March 14th!  The kids just need to collect supplies at home and bring them in that week.  The information will give you plenty of ideas!
