Week of October 16, 2023



 Please Note

-We will be getting ready for our Saints Celebration this and next week.

- The 7th grade will sell popsicles for $1.00 at recess on Tuesday to raise money for Cases for Smiles. Raffle tickets will also be sold for a chance to win a variety of different prize baskets. The form was sent home last week and tickets must be in by Wednesday. Thanks!

- There will be a math test on addition tomorrow. A review sheet will be sent home for homework tonight.

- We will have a reading and spelling test on Friday.

- Picture day is Thursday.  Please send in the order form by Thursday.

- The Home and School meeting for Thursday night has been postponed. We will let you know when the new date is set up.

- Friday is the JDRF Walk with the Principal to raise awareness for Juvenile Diabetes. The kids can wear their gym uniforms, spirit wear or anything blue and white. If you would like to send in a donation for JDRF you can :)

A Peek at Our Week

Religion

We will continue Chapter 3 "Jesus Grew Up in a Family". We will learn about the birth of Jesus and the Holy Family and have a test on Thursday.


Reading

Unit: Many Kinds of Characters 

Target Skill: Sequence of events, story elements, making inferences

Phonics Skill: short e

Grammar: Complete sentences, subject-verb agreement

Sight Words: look, are, said, to, my

Spelling Words: ten, men, pen, fed, bed, let, met, wet


Math

We will finish our addition unit and have our test on Tuesday. We will begin our unit on subtraction. We will learn about the minus sign, counting backward, and most importantly, that the bigger number always goes first in subtraction.
