I hope you enjoyed the Christmas Concert last week. The kids sounded and looked great! Before we get to the happenings of this week I would like to wish you and your families a Merry Christmas and a happy and healthy New Year! Please know that all of us here at SKS are so thankful for you and for your support.

The last week before Christmas break will be FULL of Christmas fun! Here is what we will be doing:

- No homework this week except to study for tests. Merry Christmas!

- There will be a short test on Fact Families on Tuesday. The test will be exactly like the review sheet that we did in class today.  It should be in their homework folder.

- There will be a spelling and reading test on Thursday for 'How Leopard Got His Spots'.

- Field trip permission forms and money are due tomorrow. Special thanks to Mrs. Pachioli, Mrs. E. Buckley, and Mrs. O'Donovan who will be our chaperones on the trip.  There's still one more chaperone slot if anyone is available.

- Report cards will be sent home on Tuesday. Please sign the envelope and return it. You may keep the report card. Thanks!

- We will be doing different Christmas activities this week, including decorating our classroom door for the door decorating contest.  We will definitely be putting our imaginations to good use! Today's lesson for some was on how to blow up a balloon.

- Friday is our bowling trip with our 8th grade buddies.  Please make sure your child has a morning snack or money for a pretzel that they can take to eat at the alley. Pizza and dessert will be provided for lunch when we get back from bowling. Please refrain form sending in gifts for buddies. We made them Christmas cards :)

- Friday is a dress down day. Please send in $1.00 to dress down. If your child doesn't dress down they can wear their gym uniform to school since we will be going on our field trip. Pajamas are also allowed on this day :).

Week of December 2, 2019

Thank you so much for all of the purchases made for our classroom wish list items.  Check out these new auditory feedback reading phones I was able to get through Amazon.  We are looking forward to starting our Tower Garden after Christmas so I will be purchasing supplies for that soon, too.  The new whiteboards have arrived and are waiting to be installed.  I really appreciate all of your generosity and classroom support!

Please Note

The next three weeks are busy and full of holiday fun!  Here are the reminders for this week:

- Please help your child fill out the letter that we will be sending to Santa at the end of the week. Please make sure their handwriting is neat. This is due on Thursday. Thanks for your help.

- We will have a reading and spelling test on the story At Home in the Ocean on Wednesday.

- We will have a subtraction test on Friday this week.  It will only be basic subtraction, subtraction with a number line, and subtraction patterns.  The rest of the subtraction skills will be assessed the week of the 19th.

- We will be going on our bowling field trip with our 8th grade buddies at Sproul Lanes on Friday, December 20th. We will need 4 chaperones (no siblings please). Chaperones will meet us at the bowling alley at 9:30.  We will be finished by 11:30.  If you would like to be in the drawing please email me and let me know. You must have all of your clearances up to date. A pizza lunch will be provided back at school that day so you do not have to order hot lunch for your child on the 21st.

- Next Wednesday, December 11th is the K-4 Christmas Concert. It begins at 7:00pm in the Church. Students are to wear their "Christmas" best and you are asked to drop them off at the Parish Center at 6:30pm.

- We will be going to Santa's Secret Shop NEXT Thursday at 1:30. Information will be sent home this week.  You are welcome to meet us there and help your child shop.

- Please ask your child to check their art supplies and pencil cases. Many kids are in need of new regular pencils, markers, crayons, and colored pencils.  These make great stocking stuffers!

- The first trimester ends this Friday. Report cards will be sent home on the 17th.

Please let me know if you have any questions.  Thanks!
