Mitchell's Prepositions
Monday, 5/11

Whole Class Zoom to celebrate Nora's July 11th Birthday. We will also have a special 'Guest Reader' to read our new story The Garden and have a 'Pirate Sound' party. Feel free to accessorize with a mustache, make an eye patch, wear a bandanna, etc. They will not need anything else.
Nora's address is 451 School House Lane Devon PA, 19333 if you would like to send her a card at some point.


Reading
1. Copy new Sight Words for The Garden into Reading Copybook. (see pic above)
2. Complete Reading Workbook pages 79, 80 and 81 to practice sight words and the 'ar' sound.
3.  Watch this video to learn about pronouns.  A pronoun (he, she, it, we, they, etc.) is a word that can take the place of a noun (person, place, animal, or thing.)   Then complete Reading Workbook page 82.


Math
1. Watch this video activity introducing open and closed figures/shapes and polygons (a CLOSED figure/shape with all STRAIGHT lines). We will complete 'Am I a Polygon' page in packet and Fat Math Book page 298 together. They will need a pencil with their packet and Fat Math Book.
2.  Complete 'Polygon Sort' page in packet.
3.  Complete Fat Math Book pages 297.


Religion
Chapter 22: Jesus Gives Us the Eucharist
Jesus shared a special meal with hid followers.
1.  Share and discuss pages 247-249. Complete activity on 248.

Tuesday, 5/12

Reading
1.  Use this video activity to read The Garden and complete Reading Workbook pages 85 and 86 with Mrs. Thornton. They will need a pencil and their Reading Workbook.
2. Read pages 38 and 39 in your reader about pronouns for review.
3.  Complete Reading Workbook pages 87 and 88 to review 'ar' sound and pronouns.


Math
1. Watch this video introducing 2D Shapes. We will complete both of the 'count the sides and color the shape' pages in packet. They will need their crayons or colored pencils with their packet.
3. Complete Fat Math Book pages 299 and 300. 


Religion
We celebrate what Jesus said and did at the Last Supper.
1.  Share and discuss pages 250-251. Complete activity on 251.
2. Watch this video on the Eucharist.

Wednesday, 5/13
Reading
1.  Practice sight words.
2. Read 'The Garden' (Reader pages 10-32) to your pet or stuffed animals.
3. Use this link to access Starfall.com 'Learn to Read'

  • Scroll down to number 12 'ar' and play the game AND listen to the story Car Race.
  • Then go to number 13 'or' to play the game AND listen to the story My Horse Glory.
  • This page is great for reviewing and practicing many of the phonics skills we have learned this year. Please take some time to play some of the other games and listen to other stories.
3. Complete Reading Workbook pages 78, 84 and 90


Math
1. Review 2D shapes and listen to the story 'The Greedy Triangle' here. We will complete the 'match the shape' page in packet together. They will need a pencil with their packet.
2. Complete 'The Greedy Triangle' page in packet.
3. Complete Skinny Math page 89

Religion
We celebrate the Sacrament of the Eucharist. We join with our parish for the celebration of Mass.
1. Read and discuss pages 252, 253, 254 and 255.
2. Complete activity on 255.

Reading
1. Practice Sight Words.
2. Reread The Garden (Reader pages 10-32) aloud to a family member.
3. Complete The Garden book report page which is attached as the last page of the math packet this week.
4.  Complete Reading Workbook page 83.  Think of another problem Toad might have with his garden.  What would Toad and Frog say to each other about that problem?  Use the "quotation marks" to write what Toad and Frog would say.


Math
1. Choose TWO of the 2D shape activities below to complete. (So they will basically be making a robot and a monster either with cut out shapes or drawn and colored on paper.) Try to use as many 2D shapes as you can.

  • Cut-Out Shape Monsters Use objects around the house to trace shapes or just draw them on different colored paper and cut out to make shape monsters. If you do not have colored paper, use white paper and color the shapes you traced before you cut them out.
  • Cut-Out OR Draw Shape Robots  You can either cut out shapes as described above or just draw your shape robot on paper and color.
  • Draw Shape Monsters  Draw a shape monster on paper using lots of different 2D shapes.  Color your monster.
2.  Choose one of the two activities you completed and share here on Flipgrip to the topic 'Shapes'. 
Tell the name of your monster or robot and explain how you made it/what shapes you used to make the different parts.


Religion
1. Review Chapter 22
2. Complete pages 256, 257, and 258
