Monday, 5/18

10:00 Whole Class Zoom to celebrate Lila's birthday! To kick off our new story, Amazing Animals, they should bring a realistic stuffed animal, toy, or picture of an animal that they would like to talk about. We will discuss the animal's habitat and how various body parts or traits help the animal. They will not need anything else.

Reading
1. Copy new Sight Words for Amazing Animals into Reading Copybook. (see pic above)
2. Read Amazing Animals (Reader pages 42-65).
3. Watch this video and this video about bossy r.
4. Complete Reading Workbook pages 93, 94, 95, and 96 to practice sight words and the bossy r sounds.


Math
1. Watch this video activity introducing 3D Shapes. We will complete Fat Math Book pages 307 and 308 together. They will need a red crayon, a pencil, and Fat Math Book.
2.  Complete '2D and 3D Sort' and 'Coloring 3D Shapes' pages in packet.


Religion
Chapter 25:  We Honor Mary and the Saints
Mary is the mother of Jesus.  The Church honors Mary.
1. Read and discuss pages 283-287.  Complete activity on 286.
-Mary is our Blessed Mother.
-We honor Mary on special days throughout the year.
-We pray the Rosary to Mary, Our Lady of the Rosary.
-In May we gather for a special procession to honor Mary and crown her with a garland
or chain of flowers as Our Queen of Peace.
-A procession is a prayer walk.  We sing songs, pray special prayers, and place flowers in
front of the Mary statue in the grotto.
2.Color ‘The Holy Rosary’ page and read about each special prayer we pray as part of the Rosary. Rosaries are called sacramentals - holy objects or symbols that are used for prayer.
3.  Watch the story of Our Lady of Fatima here.

Tuesday, 5/19

Reading
1.  Practice sight words.
2. Use this video activity to read Amazing Animals and complete Reading Workbook pages 100 and 101 with Mrs. Thornton. They will need a pencil and their Reading Workbook.
3.  Use this link to access Starfall.com 'Learn to Read'
-Scroll down to number 14 'r-controlled' and play the game AND listen to the story Surfer Girl.
-You can replay number 12 and 13 from last week, also.
-This page is great for reviewing and practicing many of the phonics skills we have learned this year. Please take some time to play some of the other games and listen to other stories.
4. Complete Reading Workbook pages 99, 102, and 105 to practice bossy r words.

Math
1. Watch this video activity introducing attributes of 3D Shapes. We will complete Fat Math Book pages 309 and 310 together. They will need a blue crayon, a pencil, and Fat Math Book.
2.  Complete '3D Shape Attributes' page in packet.

Religion
The saints are close to God.  We honor all the saints of the Church.
1. Read and discuss pages 288-291. 
-The saints are followers of Jesus who have died and now live forever with God.
-The saints loved God very much and put Him first in their lives.
-They shared God’s peace with others and fought to spread the love and word of God.
-Do you know anyone who acts like the saints did?
-What can you do to be like a saint?
2. Color the rosary bead page and add any special intentions you would like to pray for
on the blank banner. Bring this page to Zoom tomorrow and we will remember all of your
special intentions as we pray a decade of the rosary together.
3. Watch the May Procession tonight if you can! A video link will be sent from Option C around 6 or 6:30.

Wednesday, 5/20
10:00 Whole Class Zoom to celebrate Lucia's June 20th birthday! We will sing to Lucia and say a decade of the rosary together to remember all of our special intentions, in particular for Gabe and his family as we honor Julian's May 21st birthday. **Bring your rosary paper from yesterday and wear a YELLOW SHIRT if you can :-)**

Reading
1.  Practice sight words.
2. Read Amazing Animals (Reader pages 42-65) and The Ugly Duckling (Reader pages 70-72) to your pet or stuffed animals.
3. Complete 'Animal Body Part Graphic Organizer' page in packet. You can use animals from our story, or you can add animals from other animal books you may have at home.
4. Use this video activity to learn about using the pronouns 'I' and 'me'. We will complete Reading Workbook pages 97 and 103 together.


Math
1. Review 3D shapes and see where they can be found in real life things here and here .
2. Complete Fat Math pages 311 and 312.
3. Complete 'Going on a Shape Hunt' page in packet. Find 3D shapes around your house or outside in real life objects. Draw or write the objects you see under the correct 3D shape.

Religion
Review Chapter 25.
1. Complete pages 292-294
-How can we show our love for Mary?
-What are some things we do as a Church or school to honor Mary?
-What is the name of the special prayer we pray to honor Mary?
2. Complete the cut and paste Hail Mary page in packet.  Decorate around the prayer with a garland or chain of flowers.  Hang your prayer somewhere special.
3. You can listen to this short book about Mary if you have time or here's an optional video about the joyful and sorrowful mysteries of the rosary.
