Monday, 3/23

Reading
1. Copy Sight Words into Reading Copybook. (1st page of Week 2’s reading packet)
2. Listen to Where Does Food Come From?
Where Does Food Come From, Journeys 1st grade
They can follow along in their readers if they wish (Pages 86-111).  If they do, please let them know that the person reading is using a different version than our book so pages  88, 89 and 112 will be different.
3. Reading Workbook- Page 32 to practice sight words.
4. Complete Sight Word Sentences.  This can be found on page 12 of the reading packet for this week.

Math
1. Watch this video https://youtu.be/wD1LUujupwg from Mrs. Thornton to introduce identifying, sorting, and counting coins.
2. Play this GAME if you can.  * I believe this might only work on a laptop or computer. If you want to play on a tablet you will need to sign up but it is free.  It will go through what all the coins look like and then have you sort them by how much they are worth. Feel free to play this during the entire week to practice.
3. Complete "Penny Count" from math packet

3. Complete the Secret Message and Sentence Shuffle worksheets (Pages 3 and 4 in packet)

1. Play this GAME  or here’s Another game to practice  to keep practicing identifying and sorting coins by how much they are worth.
2. Complete "Penny and Nickel Count" worksheet.
   **Remember to always start counting with the coin that is worth the most!

Wednesday, 3/25

Reading
1. Complete Write it 3 Ways and Scrabble Spelling worksheets for spelling word practice. (Pages 5 and 6 in packet)
To ‘Write it 3 Ways’ they can use pencils, markers, crayons, rainbow, fancy letters, bubble letters, tiny letters, big letters, etc - any 3 ways they want.
For Scrabble Sentences they use the number associated with each letter of the word to create an addition sentence.
They have experience doing both of these activities and should know what to do.

3.  Read Where Does Food Come From? (Reader pages 86 - 111)  Discuss questions on page 114.

Reading
1. Review Sight Words and Spelling Words.
2.  Complete  Spelling and Sight Word Search and ABC Order worksheets for practice with words.  (Pages 7 and 8 in packet)
3.  Reread and discuss Where Does Food Come From? (Reader pages 86 - 111)
4.  Complete 'Write About Reading’ Worksheet. (Page 9 in packet)
Remember, persuade means to convince somebody to like or do something. Inform means to give facts and information and is usually a nonfiction story. Entertain means the author writes a story that the reader will enjoy.

1. Play this GAME to keep practicing identifying and sorting coins by how much they are worth.
2. Complete "Penny and Dime Count" worksheet
3. Learn how to count nickels and dimes in Big Book pages 359-360
